MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are looking for a man they say stabbed a woman outside a mental health care facility in Millington on Monday morning.

Police say an employee at Professional Care Services on Navy Road was getting out of her car around 7:45 a.m. when an unknown man, who they believe might be a patient, stabbed her multiple times. She went to Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The suspect is described as a 30-year-old, 5-foot-10 man who weighs about 190 pounds and drove a white four-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus.

People in the area say they saw a man matching that description pacing around outside the center prior to the stabbing.

“He walked away from the car like he’s going to the back door, he comes back, he leans back up against the car again, and walked back over there,” James Holmes said.

“I could tell he was frustrated and aggravated about something,” said Ronald Cornelius.

Cornelius said it was raining and the man had left his car door open as he continued pacing.

“It seemed like he was just waiting on somebody to show up. I don’t think it really mattered who, just he wanted to get somebody that worked there,” Cornelius said.

Not long after, neighbors learned that a woman had been stabbed.
