MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local woman was arrested after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of Visa gift cards from Kroger store in the area.
Irmaleisha Gaddy now faces theft charges.
Police told WREG Gaddy went undetected for nearly a year and swiped 17 gift cards worth more than $3,500.
How did she do it?
Police said while cashing out Gaddy would hand the cashier blank gift cards and asked them to load them.
Once the cards had value Gaddy would pass them off to a friend in line.
Police said she would then replace the cards, which were now loaded with money, with blank ones.
She would simply tell the cashiers she changed her mind.
According to reports, the same scheme happened numerous times at Kroger stores all over Memphis.
Gaddy’s bond was set at $20,000.
