MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are still investigating a 56-year-old woman who was hit by a train at Southern near Cooper Friday night.

Norfolk Southern Railroad Train Engineer Vaughters told police the they saw the woman walking on the tracks in the center of the railroad.

Vaughters told police that he blew the train horn several times before the woman turned around, but by then it was too late. The train had struck her.

The woman was found under the fifth train car and unconscious. She was transported to Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Memphis Police, Norfolk Southern Railroad are still investigation the situation.
