TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Tipton County deputies announced on Sunday they have captured a woman wanted for the shooting death of a 7-year-old boy at a house in Covington.
According to police, Kelby Shorty, 7, was shot and killed after a gray vehicle pulled up in front of a home in the 700 block of Montgomery and someone inside started shooting. At least two adults and several children were inside the home at the time.
After the deadly shooting, authorities recovered surveillance video from the Tiger Mart on Jackson Avenue that showed two of the victims from the Montgomery scene were involved in an argument with an unknown person inside a Mazda 3. Authorities said the driver of that car was Angieline Kennedy, who was later positively identified by one of the victims.
Kennedy was located at the house in Covington and taken into custody without incident. She had a warrant out for first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. She was booked into the Tipton County jail and released to the Memphis Police Homicide Division.
According to the Memphis Police Department’s Facebook page, two other suspects, Adonis Wright and Jordan Pittman, have also been arrested in connection with the 7-year-old’s homicide.
