MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is in jail after stabbing her boyfriend for the fourth time.
Cynthia Hampton is charged with aggravated assault after police say she stabbed the man in the 200 block of N. Dunlap.
“If she would’ve had a gun or something like that, that woman would have killed me,” Eli Harris said.
Harris’s now ex-girlfriend, Cynthia Hampton, has been arrested more than than three dozen times.
Harris and Hampton dated for 15 years.
He said she stabbed him repeatedly with a kitchen knife after he refused to give her money this weekend.
“Here, here, there and there,” he said, pointing to the places on his arms where he was stabbed. “She said, ‘You wouldn’t give me money and want me to call the police? I’ll kill you before the police get here.'”
But as shocking as the attack may seem, Harris claims this is the fourth time she’s stabbed him.
“Every time she gets mad, she tears up everything in the house,” he said.
Hampton has three other aggravated assault charges on her record, along with arrests for prostitution and public intoxication.
Harris realizes he made a mistake in staying with her for so long, but now he says he is putting his foot down.
“She ain’t coming back! I’m going to get all her pictures and stuff off the wall, and she can’t come back,” he said.
As for companionship, he is going with the four-legged variety from here on out.
“That little puppy is going to be my friend,” he said.
Harris said he plans on testifying against Hampton and making sure she stays behind bars.
