Women allegedly fought with students at Overton High

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two women were arrested after allegedly driving to Overton High School to participate in a fight with students.

Zquorea Clark, 20, and Tiara Patterson, 19, admitted to police a 10th grader called them saying she was going to be involved in a fight. Several hours later, cameras were rolling as both women participated in that fight in the main hallway.

All students actively involved were issued 180-day suspensions.

One student says teachers and staff usually guard the doors, there are deputies assigned to the campus.

“It’s concerning, because there’s people coming into our school. They’ve been talking about shootings and stuff.”

Those are the same concerns parents had when they saw a video showing two women beating up a student at Ridgeway High School in February.

Clark and Patterson were charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated assault and criminal trespass.

Clark was also charged with carrying a weapon on school property after authorities discovered she had a three-inch screw bit in her possession. Officers  said the item had a handle on the end and could be used as a weapon.

Shelby County Schools’ media relations team sent a statement saying, “Yesterday, a fight occurred between several students and two adults who came onto campus. Though all entrances to the building are locked, a student allowed the adults to enter through a side door. The students are being disciplined, and the adults were arrested. The details of this incident remain under investigation. Safety is our top priority, and any time an incident occurs on campus we review all procedures to help prevent similar situations in the future.”
