MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two young children were found wandering on a sidewalk along Elvis Presley Boulevard early Monday morning.
A woman called the police to say she saw the children around 7 a.m. and was worried, so she put the children inside her car.
When police arrived, they put the children in a squad car and tried to find their parents in a nearby apartment complex.
Police initially said the children were two and four, but their father says the boy and girl are 4 and 5.
Cartious Franklin says he was frantic when he realized they were missing.
“I went around the whole apartments looking for them barefoot like a parent would do if the child is gone missing. I don’t know what happened I thought somebody came in there and got them or something,” said Franklin.
After contacting DCS, the children were taken to the Airways precinct where they were eventually reunited with their parents.
There were several other small children at the boy and girl’s home in the Warren Apartments.
Police said the door to the apartment was left unlocked, but the children’s dad thinks his son 4-year-old son unlocked it himself.
Police said as of right now no charges have been filed in the case.
