JACKSON, Miss. — Candidates for the 1st Congressional District seat in Mississippi are gearing up for the election on May 12.
The special election was called after U.S. Representative Alan Nunnelee passed away in February of cancer.

Everyone who plans on voting at the polls must show a photo ID card.
According to the Mississippi Voter ID website, any of the following may be used as a form of identification:
1. A driver’s license
2. A photo ID card issued by a branch , department, or entity of the State of Mississippi
3. A United States passport
4. A government employee ID card
5. A firearms license
6. A student photo ID issued by an accredited Mississippi university, college, or community/junior college
7. A United States military ID
8. A tribal photo ID
9. An other photo ID issued by an branch, department, agency or entity of the United States government or any State government
10. A Mississippi Voter Identification Card
If you don’t have any of these, please call the Circuit Clerk’s office at 1-855-868-3745 to receive a free Mississippi Voter Identification Card.
