NASHVILLE, Tenn. — According to numbers released by the Tennessee Republican Party, members are much more engaged this year than in 2012.
The largest GOP turnout in the state occurred back in 2012 as approximately 554,573 people cast their votes.
In 2016, the party saw that number jump by more than 300,000 to 854,792.
And it wasn’t just on Super Tuesday that Republican voters came out in force.
The party said they saw a 62% increase in the number of people participating in early voting when compared to 2012.
Tennessee is responsible for awarding 58 delegates to the candidates who cross the 20% threshold.
