Let’s meet this week’s Furry Friend: Grover, a terrier mix who is about 6 months old.

He’s up for adoption through the Humane Society of the Delta in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

The organization found him in the middle of Highway 49 and rescued him just before he was almost hit by an 18-wheeler!

He’s now in foster care but is looking for a forever home!

If you can’t adopt Grover but still want to help, the Humane Society of the Delta is holding their “Delta Ducky Derby” next weekend. It’s a two-day event, with a Red Carpet Gala at Phillips Community College on June 10.

The derby itself is June 11 at the Helena River Park. You can actually race jumbo rubber duckies on the Mississippi River.

For more information, or to purchase tickets for either event, call (870) 753-9403.

Don’t forget, that’s also the number to call if you’re interested in adopting Grover.

The Humane Society of the Delta tells us Grover likes other dogs but will chase cats.

His adoption fee is $125 and includes neutering services and up-to-date vaccinations.
