Over the weekend, the city and the Memphis Police Association struck a deal that could mean pay raises for officers across the force.

Since benefit cuts in 2014 and changes to pensions last year, the union says more than 500 officers have left the department.

The newly agreed-upon raises may help stanch the bleeding.

Officers with more than 12 years on the force will see a 3.75 percent raise, and there will be a 2.75 percent raise for officers with less experience.

But how much will it cost? And where will the money come from?
