Saturday has been declared a “Day of Unity” in Memphis.
Neighborhood outreach programs, pastors and police are all coming together to work as one in what organizers hope will be the beginning of a coalition in community policing.
Memphis Police Director Mike Rallings has said community policing is key to improving relations between people and police.
Kathy Hurley is one of the organizers of the event.
She’s here with Frayser Community Activist, Charlie Caswell to talk about their goal for this weekend.
