The state of Mississippi is now facing a lawsuit over its Religious Freedom Law.

The law doesn’t go into effect until July, but opponents are taking action now.

On Monday, the ACLU filed suit on behalf of a same-sex couple in Mississippi who argues the law legalizes discrimination and violates the constitution.

The law allows businesses to refuse service based on religious grounds.

Meanwhile, the state of North Carolina is gearing up for a showdown with the federal government over its controversial bathroom law.

The law in question limits the use of public restrooms to the gender on a person’s birth certificate.

The Justice Department sued North Carolina for violating civil rights hours after North Carolina’s governor filed his own lawsuit against the DOJ to keep the law in place.

The country will be watching both cases very closely.
