Live at 9 is getting you ready for Easter!
And before you get ready for dinner, there’s always room to indulge in a tasty Easter Brunch!
Chef Derek Smith from The Peabody joined us on Live at 9 with the perfect recipe.
Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients:
Green Tomatoes
Flour
Eggs
Breadcrumbs
Yellow Corn Meal
Salt
Pepper
Onion Powder
Directions:
- Take a firm Green tomato slice about an inch thick.
- In separate bowls have (flour, scramble eggs and in your last bowl breadcrumbs and yellow corn meal mixed together.
- Take your sliced tomato and season with salt, pepper and onion powder.
- Take tomato and put it in pan 1 with flour coat well then put in pan 2 with the eggs make sure both sides are covered this ensures that the breadcrumbs and meal will hold. Then after the egg wash go straight to the breadcrumb and meal coat all sides and edges. Fry 1 to 2 minutes on each side for a golden brown tomato.
