A deadly earthquake shook Southern Italy overnight, killing at least one person. The magnitude 5.3 quake woke people from their sleep, who then rushed into the streets fearing building collapses. It’s not the first time this week an Italian earthquake has been in the headlines. Monday, six Italian scientists were sentenced to prison for failing to predict an earthquake in 2009. The verdict shocked Seismologists worldwide, including some here in Memphis like Gary Patterson.
