Football Watch Party Ideas & Recipes

This is not a time for the hostess to be stuck in the kitchen.

Keep the menu simple and casual with food that holds well. Have fun with the menu!

Think “dude food”… Childhood, carnival, or bar menu classics.

Use disposable paper trays, silver pizza trays for serving, napkin dispensers and checkered tablecloths.

All are available at your restaurant supply store.

In addition to the recipes below consider the following for your Super Bowl party:

Debris Po’ boy Sliders
(makes about 15 sliders)
*great make ahead recipe

– 3 lb beef chuck roast (each lb of meat makes approx 5 sliders)
– about 8-10 cloves of whole, peeled garlic
– 3 cups beef stock
– 1 cup red wine
– several twigs of thyme
– 2 tsp Worcestershire
Salt and Pepper

– slider rolls
– shredded lettuce
– pickles
– tomato slices
– mayo

Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Season roast with salt and pepper. Heat a heavy Dutch oven over medium high heat. Season roast with salt and pepper. Sear all sides of roast. Add beef broth, wine, thyme, and Worcestershire and cover. Place in oven for about four hours. Turn roast once halfway through cooking. Allow to cool and refrigerate overnight. Before. serving skim fat off of roast and juice. Shred meat and reheat in broth. Enjoy! *Recipe can be frozen at this point for refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Pimiento Cheese Stuffed, Bacon Wrapped Jalapeños
(makes about 24 pieces)
*great make ahead recipe

Ingredients:
– 24 oz. your favorite pimiento cheese recipe (Make it thicker for this recipe by cutting back on mayo or even adding cream cheese. If using store bought use very high quality because otherwise the high mayonnaise content will cause it to become liquid and ooze out of pepper.)
– 12-15 large, fresh jalapeños
– 24 thin slices of bacon, cut in half

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut jalapeños in half lengthwise. Remove ribs and seeds. Fill with pimiento cheese and wrap with bacon.
*can be help up to two days in refrigerator at this point. Place jalapenos on sheetpan coated in oil bake for about 15 minutes or until bacon is crispy.

Hot Tamale Dip
(serves 12)
*great make ahead recipe

Ingredients:
2 T butter
2 scallions
1 can original Rotel
1.5 lbs Velveeta
3-4 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/3 tsp. garlic powder
2 cans chili, no beans
2 cans beef tamales, coarsely chopped
Tabasco to taste

Sauté scallions in butter. Add all ingredients except tamales and heat until cheese is melted. Then add coarsely chopped tamales and hot sauce to taste. Serve warm with Frito Scoops. *can be made up to two days ahead and reheated
