MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Looking to kickstart your career journey this summer? The Shelby County Board of Commissioners has an exciting opportunity lined up just for you. Commission Chairwoman Miska Clay Bibbs says the 2024 Summer Youth Program is offering students a chance to gain valuable work experience, develop essential skills, and explore potential career paths.
What to Expect: This eight-week internship program isn’t your average summer gig. Participants will have the opportunity to intern across various departments and divisions within the Shelby County Government. From administrative roles to hands-on projects, there’s something for everyone to dive into.

Requirements: To be eligible for the program, applicants must:
- Be at least 14 years old and currently enrolled in school (including trade schools, college, homeschooling, etc.).
- Reside in Shelby County, Tennessee.
- Demonstrate good standing as a student.
- Commit to working 37.5 hours per week from June 3 to July 31, 2024.
- Provide their own transportation to and from assigned work locations.
