Vidal V. Buckley

While it’s the candidates making headlines with their bold remarks now, back in the day it was the commentators most people watched closely during elections.

In the 1968 Presidential Election, Americans were glued to the TV to see what commentators William Buckley and Gore Vidal would say next!

Memphis author Tom Graves has gotten exclusive access to the transcripts from these legendary debates.

His new book is coming out at the same time Robert Gordon’s new movie about Buckley V. Vidal hits the theater in Memphis.

In a review, Rolling Stone said this is where modern TV news got its start.
