MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Supporters of the Memphis Zoo and the Overton Park Greensward have been in mediation for months over who will control a grassy area that’s at the center of the controversy.

On Thursday, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland outlined his own plan for the area that he said “will permanently end parking on the usable portion of the Greensward, provide the Memphis Zoo with a sustainable source of parking for its patrons, and enable growth in this great park in the center of our city.”

It includes utilizing space in the current parking area, along North Parkway and in the Prentiss Place lot.

Already, not everyone is happy with this plan.

We’ll talk about it on Informed Sources.
