MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A day of service is set for next Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. day here in Memphis.
Memphis Clean by 2019 and other organizations will host a citywide cleanup Monday, Jan. 18, beginning at 1 p.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m.
Organizers said it’s a great way to clear out blight and trash and honor King, who encouraged everyone to serve their community.
A number of coordinated cleanups have been set up at various locations:
- Carver High School: Riverview Kansas Community
- East High School: Binghampton Community
- Fairley High School: Whitehaven Community
- Hamilton High School: Hamilton Community
- Kingsbury High School: Berclair Community
- Kirby High School: Hickory Hill Community
- Melrose High School: Orange Mound Community
- Trezevant High School: Trezevant Community
