Do you have prescription drugs you need to get out of your medicine cabinet? You’re in luck!
This Saturday, September 26 is National Prescription Drug Take-back Day.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., various sites across the Mid-South will be open taking your old prescriptions and disposing of them in a responsible manner.
According to the Drug Enforcement Agency, during last year’s event more than 617,000 pounds of unwanted drugs were handed in at more than 5,500 sites.
“The presence of unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs in American homes is a real public safety and health issue,” said Dr. George Jones, chief of the Defense Health Agency Pharmacy Operation Division. “Prescription drug abuse is a serious problem, and getting these old drugs out of the home medicine cabinet reduces the chance of abuse or accidental misuse.”
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said they service is free and there will be no questions asked.
The Sheriff’s Office will be at the following locations on Saturday:
- The Krogers Store located at 11635 Hwy. 70 ( Summer Ave.) in Arlington, Tn.
10:00 am until 2:00 pm. - The Krogers Store located at 7942 Winchester (at Hacks Cross Rd.)
10:00am until 2:00 pm. - 1080 Madison Ave. (at I-240).
10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
