Kirby’s 800 students will have to complete work from home Thursday and Friday, and then split into two other schools starting Monday— 400 at Kirby Middle and 400 at DuBois Middle.

About 800 Kirby High School students are displaced due to the rat infestation.

At the first community meeting on Thursday, SCS Superintendent Dorsey Hopson talked to parents about where the students could possibly be sent. 

For the next 6 to 8 weeks, more than 1,000 students in Memphis will have to be relocated after Kirby High School school was taken over by rats.

The District says it’s possible for some students to transfer, but the superintendent hopes parents won’t resort to that. 

School board member Kevin Woods confirms the district is looking at all options after a rodent problem closed Kirby High School again this week, including moving students to another space.
