Memphis Police responded to the area of Sam Cooper and North Perkins just before 2 p.m.

Police are looking for the driver of a black Dodge Charger after a witness said the man inside fired eight to 10 shots at a woman’s car on Interstate 240.

Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol are all over the interstate lighting up drivers left and right, looking for aggressive drivers after a string of shootings on I-40 and 240.

Officers responded around 7:30 to Interstate 240 and Norris Road, where they found the man. He was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

Protests took a violent turn in several U.S. cities over the weekend with demonstrators squaring off against federal agents outside a courthouse in Portland, Oregon, forcing police in Seattle to retreat into a station house and setting fire to vehicles in California and Virginia.

The no-tolerance “Grizzly Operation” will target distracted drivers, those under the influence and speeders. 

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. in the Horn Lake/Interstate 55 area, Southaven Police said.

The District Attorney’s Office has deemed that an officer-involved shooting that led to the death of 19-year-old Keyshon Parham in October 2018 involved no criminal wrongdoing on the part of the officers.

Tennessee Highway Patrol will bring 30 extra state troopers to Memphis for a new operation they hope will help decrease road rage shootings that have plagued Memphis-area interstates this year.

First responders are on the scene of a shooting at Interstate 240 and Millbranch, the fire department confirmed.

A man was shot dead in the New Chicago area just off Interstate 40 Friday, Memphis Police said.
