With violence surging across the country, some are warning the new permitless carry law could cause increased gun violence in the Volunteer State.

The now-deleted tweets claimed the “uncle” of one of the victims was followed home by a representative who said he was “willing to pay us to stand with the Gov and say we don’t need stronger gun laws.”

Governor Lee says the constitutional carry bill applies to law-abiding citizens, “What happened yesterday was criminal activity, violent criminal gun activity, and those are separate issues.”

The concept of citizens stopping acts of violence – often called “good guys with guns” – originates back to the 1998 book, “More Guns, Less Crime,” by economist John Lott.
