Stimulus checks of $600 to $700 could be hitting Americans’ bank accounts in the coming weeks.

Lawmakers say they’re on the brink of reaching a deal for another round of COVID relief, but the latest version proposes leaving out both money for state and local governments and COVID-related lawsuit protections for business.

The plan would include stimulus checks less than the original $1,200 direct payments. The deal would also leave out state funding and a liability shield pushed by Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
