The city of Memphis is celebrating its 200th anniversary on Wednesday and that means it’s time to celebrate.

We may see some political fireworks today as the Shelby County Election Commission meets with Shelby County Commissioners Wednesday morning. The election commission wants to buy new voting machines, but money for the project was not included in Mayor Lee Harris’ capital improvement budget.

Authorities in Alabama have ended the search for a man they say killed one officer and injured two others in Auburn.

“The initial concept was going to be four sites: one in South Memphis, one in Orange Mound, one in North Memphis. They were going to be spread out. That changed to some degree. I wish we’d stayed on that concept,” Commissioner Reginald Milton said.
