For now the group says they are done cruising the streets of Memphis but they aren’t done fighting to bring the statues back.

A Mississippi city is removing the state flag from a city building, just a few days after it went up.

The group says it plans to clean up walkways, add seats and trashcans, and add signs and security at Health Sciences Park and Memphis Park, formerly known as Forrest Park and Confederate Park.

Parks were closed and taped off and dozens of heavily-armed police officers and TBI agents guarded the downtown area and parks around the city, hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.

They plan on driving through Memphis to show how upset they are about the removal of Confederate statues.

Reasonable people can disagree about removing the statues -including the way it was done- but in the end, city leaders legally accomplished the goal of taking down symbols of slavery and oppression.
