MISSISSIPPI — Wednesday night’s storms left a trial of destruction across the Mid-South. Benton County, Mississippi was one of the hardest hit areas from last night’s tornado touchdowns. At least three people are dead and even more are missing. WREG was live on Daybreak near the small community of Lamar where tornadoes touched down heavily damaging and destroying homes. Search and rescue crews were up all night looking for survivors near Country Church Road in Benton County. In Marshall County, two people were killed including a 7-year-old child along Highway 7 South. Trees and power lines were toppled forcing motorists to stay off of the roads. Vehicles were crushed, and homes in the area were completely demolished by the storm. Rescue efforts continue in Holly Springs.
