Blue Suede Vintage
Casey O’Rourke, Founder and Owner
I started Blue Suede Vintage in late 2017, early 2018. I am not personally a huge Elvis Fan, my grandmother was. The name Blue Suede harkens back to that.
I am always harping on secondhand fashion as a more sustainable choice. That has always been my motivator of this store. I say always shop second-hand before you buy something new. When you compare a nicely well-made vintage garment to something that is very similar and new, typically, the newer piece is going to be a lot more expensive, and it may not be as good in quality.
At my former location, near Crosstown, I was coming to a crossroads and was considering closing the shop. But I had overwhelming support from our customers. So, I really wanted to push forward and keep going and be a small business success story in Memphis. Ultimately, we’ve only been here in this location for a couple months, but so far, it’s been incredible. The first day that we opened back in February, we had lines for the fitting room, we had lines to check out. People really showed up and supported this store and I’m thankful for that.
Blue Suede Vintage offers clothing, accessories, and home goods from the 1920’s-2000’s. Our mission is to curate unique styles that help you shop more consciously and give old clothes a new life!
