LOS ANGELES — It’s exactly what everyone expected, right?

Not really, but after gutting out an overtime win over the shorthanded Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron James and the Lakers are heading to Memphis.

With the win in the NBA Play-In Game Tuesday night thanks to 30 from James, L.A. earns the seven seed in the Western Conference playoff race and comes to Memphis to open against the second-seeded Grizzlies.

Game one will be Sunday at FedExForum.

The Memphis Grizzlies are continuing their spirit week to celebrate the start of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

On Thursday, April 13, the team will provide Swag to Grizz Nation throughout the city, and fans can visit one of the Playoff Swag Pick-Up sites, presented by Orion and your Mid-South Ford Dealers, to grab some gear.

7859 Hwy 64 (near Kate Bond Rd) – 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Court Square Food Truck Rodeo – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Northwest Corner of Poplar @ Highland – 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday, April 14, is Grizz Day. Grizzlies are asking local businesses, as well as the local community as a whole, to turn their casual Friday into ‘casual Grizzday.’ The Grizzlies want to see fans all over Memphis and the Mid-South sporting their Grizz gear and then showing it off on social media. Participants can tag @memgrizz or #BigMemphis for a chance to be reposted.

Also, fans are invited to the FedEx Forum for a Plaza Party. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be final playoff swag pick-up, food trucks, playoff giveaways, live music, games and more.
