MEMPHIS — A couple of familiar rivals will help tip off the Play-In portion of the NBA Playoffs on Tuesday as for the third time in five years, the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors will meet in the postseason.
This time at Chase Center where the winner locks down the seven seed in the Western Conference playoffs and a trip to Houston to take on the Rockets.
The Grizzlies gearing up for the Play-In with a pseudo sit in.
The team deciding to rest its big names in the regular season finale Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks but that didn’t stop the reserves from putting on quite a show.
Four different Grizzlies scored 20 or more. Lamar Stevens, Marvin Bagley, Cam Spencer and Jay Huff. Those four combining for 101 of the Grizzlies 132 points in a 35 point win over Dallas. Stevens with a career high 31.
Reserves that are excited for what’s to come for a team many people have already written off.
“It’s a brand new season. We have great leaders in Ja and Dez and Jaren and they’re hungry to prove something. I think that’s just the trickle down effect for everybody else,” Stevens said. “So 0-0, it’s an even playing field. Brand new season. Brand new start for us. We have a big chip on their shoulder with something to prove. I think a lot of people have been counting us out. So we’re excited to just go there and up play our game.”
A game that tips off Tuesday night at 9pm.
