GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Just a week and a half following the start of construction, the NFL Draft Stage roof is already complete and mounted high above the stage on Oneida St.

“That’s the foundation. This is the focal point of the draft, is the main theater,” Green Bay Packers vice president of marketing and fan engagement Gabrielle Dow said. “2,000 folks will be able to sit under that roof. That is where all the picks will take place, the announcements will be made by the commissioner, and all of the other wonderful things happening on that wonderful stage.”

Crews worked for hours Wednesday afternoon and into the evening as they slowly, screechingly raised the thousands of pounds of steel inch by inch. Dow says the construction is on schedule, and some of the focus of construction will pivot to the west side of the stadium.

As the construction spans multiple properties, organizers say it takes a true team effort to make all the logistics come together.

“It’s been a ton of work and collaboration with PMI, the Green Bay Packers,” Discover Green Bay vice president of marketing Nick Meisner said. “We’ve worked with them as closely on this as anything in the past. And they’ve really taken the lead on everything going on their property and everything on the PMI property.”

Next, the floor of the draft stage will be built, and then more construction on the theater will continue, where thousands of fans will watch the action. Registration numbers for the One Pass App are not able to be shared, but the Packers say they are looking good.

“We don’t have those numbers now, but they’re holding strong, but we’d love to see more. I’m hoping for Packers fans to come out, but I think it’s a bucket list event for any fan to visit. And don’t be scared about the traffic or driving, we have plenty of parking, there’s places to stay, there’s hotels open, there’s VRBOS, AirBNBs.”
