PROVIDENCE, R.I. — After a fifth straight game of completing passes for over 300 yards of offense and helping Memphis to a 37-24 win over #13/12 Ole Miss, junior quarterback Paxton Lynch was named the American Athletic Conference’s offensive player of the week, Monday.
This is Lynch’s first weekly award from the league this season and the third of his career.
On Saturday, the junior from Deltona, Fla., completed 39 passes on 53 attempts, both career highs, for 384 yards and three touchdowns to guide the Tigers to their first win over a ranked opponent since 1996.
All three of Lynch’s touchdown passes came during Memphis’ run of 31 straight points, which overcame a 14-0 deficit.
Memphis returns to American Athletic Conference play this week, playing at Tulsa on Friday at 7 p.m. (CT) on ESPN.
The Tigers return home to the Liberty Bowl on Oct. 31st for a game against conference foe Tulane at 6 p.m. (CT).
