Two more leave Tiger Program

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis sophomores Nick King and Pookie Powell will transfer from the school, Tigers basketball head coach Josh Pastner announced Wednesday.

“Nick and Pookie both are fine young men and in good academic standing at the University,” said Pastner. “We support both players and wish them all the best.”
King, a 6-foot-7 forward/guard, was the Tigers’ fifth-leading scorer (7.2 ppg) and fourth-leading rebounder (4.8 rpg) this season. He played in 28 games and made seven starts. King scored 368 points and grabbed 246 rebounds in his two-year career at Memphis.

Powell played his first season with the Tigers in 2014-15. The 6-foot-1 guard saw action in 27 games and made 11 starts. He averaged 4.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
