MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Tornado Watch was issued Saturday morning for many counties in the Mid-South, including Shelby County.
The watch lasted until 5 p.m. in much of the WREG viewing area.
A tree uprooted and fell onto a house in the 900 block of Creston in Frayser, and another on on Kenneth in Raleigh.
In Uptown, a limb pulled down utility lines and cut off power to many in the neighborhood. Across the city, thousands were left in the dark.
The primary threats were damaging thunderstorm winds and sporadic large hail. Isolated strong tornadoes were possible, but none caused tremendous damages.
WREG’s Austen Onek said it’s not exactly the same as last week’s events in Georgia and Alabama, but decently similar.
WREG has crews around the Mid-South checking out the damages from Saturday’s storms.
