MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG weather experts are tracking the skies ahead of inclement conditions, and they’re here to keep you aware ahead of the storm.
Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch from 12:45 p.m. until 8 p.m. for Shelby, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Chester and McNairy counties in West Tennessee.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued until 8 p.m. for Alcorn, Benton, Coahoma, DeSoto, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Panola and Quitman, Tate, Tippah and Tunica counties in Mississippi; and Crittenden, Lee, Phillips and St. Francis counties in Arkansas.
The weather today features increasing clouds, wind and warming. Highs in the lower to mid 80s with rain or thunder becoming likely for this afternoon and evening. A slight risk for severe weather with high winds and hail being a primary concern. Strongest of these storms will arrive closer to the evening commute.
Stay alert to rapidly changing conditions. Strong storms are likely for this afternoon and evening with our latest cold front working across the Mid-South. Conditions will improve quickly overnight paving the way for a pleasant weekend ahead. Lots of sun and a rapid warm up with highs climbing into the upper 80s by Sunday, lows 90s possible for next week.
Strong storms are possible Thursday night. Clearing and mild weather is expected to return for Friday and the weekend.
Wednesday at 7:08 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for Lafayette County, Marshall County, Panola County and Tate County until 8 p.m.
