Bitter cold with wind chills near zero the next few days

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The snow may have stopped, but now it’s the temperatures that are falling, and they’ll be ice-cold for days.

Thursday morning, temperatures were in the 5-10 degree range with north winds driving wind chills down to below zero.

Extreme Cold Warnings were already in effect in the area, and it was only set to get colder again tonight. On top of that, there’s still a chance for patches of ice on the roads so use caution.

Wednesday afternoon, temperatures ranged from 18 in Blytheville to 25 in Corinth, with wind chills as low as 1 degree across the area.

High temperatures will not climb out of the 20s on Thursday. There could be some records set on Thursday.

Friday, some of us may briefly get above freezing for a few hours, but most will stay below freezing until Saturday. Rain chances will remain minimal for the next few days.

Make sure you drip your faucets the next three nights and keep those exposed pipes wrapped up.

Memphis Police reminded people to take care of the three Ps:

But just wait until next week — we’ll be in the 60s.
