MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An ice storm warning lasts through midday Wednesday. Most of the counties in the News Channel 3 viewing area are affected.

After a brief break from the wintry precipitation, another round is headed our way this afternoon and evening. Temperatures remain below freezing for a large part of the News Channel 3 viewing area, compounding the problems many will face during Rush Hour this evening. Power outages are another concern as expected precipitation adds additional weight to trees and branches. Additional precipitation is expected Wednesday, but temperatures are expected to move above freezing during this time period.
Tonight, cloudy and cold with rain, freezing rain and sleet. Additional ice accumulations of .2″ are possible. Expect a low tonight around 26 degrees. Wind from the northeast at 10 mph.
Wednesday, continued cloudy and cold with more wintry mix expected. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 34 degrees with northeast wind at 5-10 mph. Wednesday night, rain possibly mixed with snow and a low of 32 degrees.

The first wave of the ongoing ice event should come to a lull by mid-morning. We’ll pick back up with freezing rain and/or sleet by this afternoon. Additional ice amounts up to 1/2 inch are possible through tomorrow. If guidance continues to trend colder, we may see more sleet.
