Fun events happening in Memphis this weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s finally Friday, which means it’s time to look at several events happening across the greater Memphis area this weekend. There is something for everyone.

Let’s get started with a candle-making class. Friday night embark on a creative journey by making your very own 4-ounce candle.


The class will be held at 111 Madison Avenue at 7 p.m Tickets are $45.

Still figuring out your new year goals? Bring your dreams to life at Imperfect Perfections Beauty Bar’s “Board and Bloom Vision Board Party.”

Visualize your future on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at the salon along Front Street. Tickets are $12.

Bust out the cowboy boots as the Rodeo of the Mid-South is back. This event is for the whole family.

The rodeo will be held on Saturday at the Landers Center from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets for the event start at $23.

After that head over to the Cannon Center where Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the oldest orchestral ensemble in Memphis, will perform American Maestro with Bernstein’s West Side Story.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $25.

Sunday funday celebrate the birthday of the one, the only, Tennessee’s own, Dolly Parton.

She will be turning 79 years old. You can celebrate the queen of country at Wiseacre Brewing Company along Broad at noon. The event is free.

Monday, celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the National Civil Rights Museum.

The celebration includes live music, special announcements and speakers and so much more. The museum opens at 8 a.m. with free admission.
