Fun events happening in Memphis this weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s finally Friday, which means it’s time to look at several events happening across the greater Memphis area this weekend. There is something for everyone.

Dance Theatre of Harlem is in town! Now in its sixth decade, Dance Theatre of Harlem has grown into a multi-cultural dance institution. They have shows all this weekend at the Orpheum. Tickets begin at $39.


Bundle up and head to the Broad Avenue Arts District as they kick off its “Sweet Street Tour.” $5 gets you a punch card to sample delicious treats from participating shops in the area. The fun begins at 5 p.m. Friday night.

Cordelia’s Market is also celebrating the season of love with a Valentine’s craft event. You and the kids can make your own stained glass paper hearts on Saturday at the market along Harbor Bend Road from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Best of all, the event is free.

After that, make your way to the Stax Museum for its February Family Day! You and the kids can learn the significance of Stax Records and its impact on the music industry from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free!

Saturday is an even more special day in the city as the Beale Street Bears turn 30! To celebrate, the Grizzlies are giving out a Grizz cap and mask set to the first 5,000 fans.

The Grizzlies take on the top team in the west, Oklahoma City Thunder at 7 p.m. Tickets begin at $51 on Ticketmaster.

Another big game that will have the entire nation on its toes, Super Bowl Sunday is here and of course, there are watch parties across the city!

King and Union, Brookhaven Pub, Slider Inn, Young Avenue Deli, and Huey’s are among those having parties.
