MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Four people have lost their lives after two separate house fires early Sunday morning, the Memphis Fire Department confirmed.
At 3:18 a.m., MFD crews were dispatched to a house fire in the 800 block of Alida Ave.

When they arrived, firefighters located two male victims inside the residence, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Close relatives of the victims told WREG that the two men were brothers.
Family members said the brothers had just buried their mother one month ago.
Now, the family is forced to plan yet another funeral for not just one but two more relatives.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
At 4:05 a.m., MFD crews responded to another house fire in the 5300 block of Yale Rd., where reports indicated people were trapped inside.
A spokeswoman for the fire department said firefighters desperately tried to save the victims but, sadly, were too late.

Firefighters entered the structure and located two victims, who were also pronounced dead on the scene.
Neighbors said the street was blocked off for hours while crews worked to combat the flames.
“I saw them take out two bodies from the side of the house,” neighbor Mario Robinson said. “They were in the bedroom because I saw the fire people and stuff just walked around in there.”
The victims have not been officially identified, but neighbors said a married couple lived in the home with their adult children and grandchild.
“They were good people,” a female neighbor said. “Like today, she would leave and go to church. She’d come back home and she’d have plates over there.”
The cause of this fire is also under investigation.
The Memphis Fire Department said this is the third deadly house fire this weekend, bringing the total number of fire fatalities up to five.
Early Saturday morning, a fire broke out at a home on Nicholas Street in North Memphis.
One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the other died from their injuries.
Fire investigators say that that fire was caused accidentally by unattended candles.
The fire department released a statement saying, “The Memphis Fire Department extends its condolences to the families affected by these tragic incidents. Further details will be released as the investigations progress.”
