MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police say a teen was injured in a drive-by shooting in Midtown.
Police responded to a shooting at the Kimbrough Towers apartment complex on Kimbrough Place and Union at 2:47 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, a teen was shot inside of his car. Police say the victim had just left Central High School when the suspect pulled up beside the victim’s car and started firing shots.
Memphis Police say employees of Kimbrough Towers helped the victim after the shooting.
“For us, it’s great to see the partnership. It starts with Kimbrough Towers,” Assistant Police Chief Don Crowe said. “Their employees rushed out to render aid to help officers. Security from the school is here. The principal from the school is concerned about her students.”
Memphis Police say two other teens were inside the car but no one else was injured. All of the teens were reportedly between the ages of 17 and 18 years old.
Police say this appears to be a targeted shooting. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on Union Avenue in a black four-door sedan.
