MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An inmate at the Shelby County Jail is facing more charges after he allegedly attacked a deputy jailer, stabbing him multiple times.
On January 22, the officer told the inmates to go into their cells so they could receive their food. Adrian Maclin allegedly refused and started aggressively walking toward the officer.
Reports state that the officer maced him, but it had no effect.
Maclin said, “I got something for you,” and pulled a sharpened metal object from his waistband, reports state. He swung the weapon at the officer, stabbing him in the left shoulder repeatedly.
During the attack, Maclin told the officer, “I’m going to kill you.”
Two other officers entered the area and gave Maclin orders to drop the weapon. He refused and swung the object at them as well.
Maclin eventually threw the weapon into an unoccupied cell.
The condition of the officers is unknown at this time.
Maclin was already facing eight aggravated assault charges. He is now facing additional charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Attempted First-Degree Murder, and Possession of a Weapon in a Penal Institution.
