MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was arrested after police say she shot her boyfriend during an argument on Sunday.

Officers responded to the shooting just before 4 p.m. after a witness said they saw a woman shoot a man in the head outside a home in the 200 block of North Hollywood. The man ran into the house after the shot was fired.

The MPD conducted a welfare search at the home after discovering a trail of blood leading to the house. Marquitta Williams was inside the home and reportedly told police that she and her boyfriend had been involved in an argument, but he was no longer at the house.

Reports say officers continued following the blood trail up into the attic, where they found the victim hiding due to outstanding warrants.

The victim identified Williams as the person responsible for shooting him, and Williams allegedly admitted to pointing a gun at the victim’s chest and firing a shot during a struggle with him.

While officers were searching the home they found two loaded guns, crack cocaine, and a digital scale.

Marquitta Williams was charged with Aggravated Assault – Domestic Violence, Possessing a Firearm during Commission/Attempt to Commit Dangerous Felony, Possess Controlled Substance with intent to Manufacture/Deliver/Sell – Crack Cocaine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Digital Scale.

Her bond has not been set. She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
