MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 70-year-old woman reported missing earlier this week was found dead near her home in Somerville, Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

A state-wide Silver Alert was issued by the TBI on Monday for Charlotte Kee, who was reported missing from her home on Feathers Chapel Drive in Fayette County under unusual circumstances.

Family members told WREG that the door to her mobile home was found wide open, her dog was outside alone, and her stove was left on. Her cellphone was also left behind inside the house.

The TBI previously said that Kee had a medical condition that could impair her ability to return home safely on her own.

“We extend our condolences to her family and loved ones,” said the TBI.

The circumstances surrounding her death are unknown at this time. It is unclear how long Kee was missing before her body was found.
